Unibet announced as Title Sponsor of the Unibet EuroHockey Championships 2015

England Hockey and the European Hockey Federation are delighted to announce that online gambling operator Unibet has signed an agreement to become Title Sponsor of the Unibet EuroHockey Championships 2015, which will be staged in London on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park between 21 and 30 August.

Unibet, a founding member of the European Gaming & Betting Association and with over 17 years’ experience, offers sports betting games, bingo and poker to over 9.7 million registered customers in more than 100 countries. Its sponsorship will help England Hockey deliver a world-class event experience for spectators, athletes and volunteers, whilst enabling the event to be showcased in the best possible light to a 100million-strong European TV audience.

The 2015 Unibet EuroHockey Championships comprises 40 matches over 10 days at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, with the men’s and women’s Champions crowned over the weekend of 29 and 30 August. It promises to be a fiercely contested tournament with Germany looking to defend both titles.

The demand to watch the international stars in action back on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has been high and as a result England Hockey has announced plans to increase the size of the stadium. These additional tickets will be released on 27 April for existing bookers, and on 1 May to the general public. Aside from breathtaking sport, spectators will enjoy a great, family day out with all that Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the event’s Hockey FanZone has to offer.

If you are unable to enjoy the event in person, it will be broadcast across Europe with national terrestrial TV coverage in the UK, and via major broadcasters in European countries. Over 100million viewers are expected to tune into the coverage.

Chair of the Unibet EuroHockey Championships 2015 Organising Committee, Andy Tapley, said “we are delighted that Unibet has come on board as Title Sponsor of the forthcoming EuroHockey Championships. With its genuine passion and expertise across all sport, the partnership will help us create more interest in the event and continue to grow hockey in the run up to the Olympics.”

Phillip Manzi, Unibet UK Country Manager, commented: “We are delighted to sponsor the Eurohockey Championships 2015 and believe this fits in with Unibet’s passionate, friendly and expert values. Unibet pride ourselves on being the home for all sports, especially those that people are passionate about, and Hockey certainly fits the bill.”

The President of the EHF, Marijke Fleuren added “I would like to congratulate England Hockey on securing a Title Sponsor for the EuroHockey Championships. From the outset all the stakeholders agreed that this Championships would be about putting the players first, also a core strategy of Unibet. We welcome Unibet and share its wish for players to play in a fair-play environment.”
